• When can I visit Light Festival Caprera?

  Light Festival Caprera takes place from Thursday, February 12, to Sunday, March 1. The festival is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

  When purchasing your ticket, you can select starting times between 6:00 PM and 09:30 PM. During your selected time slot, you have 15 minutes to begin your walk, which you can then enjoy at your own pace.

  Before and after your walk, you are welcome to relax at our cozy bar area. All lights will be switched off at 11:00 PM.

• Where does Light Festival Caprera take place?

  The festival is held in the woodland park surrounding Caprera Open Air Theater in Bloemendaal.

  You’ll find us at Hoge Duin en Daalseweg 2, Bloemendaal.

• What’s waiting for you at Light Festival Caprera?

  Licht Festival Caprera takes you on a journey past stunning light artworks by internationally renowned artists. This year’s light trail features 12 brand-new installations at Caprera, plus last year’s crowd favorite: Electric Jungle.

  Young visitors can join an interactive light quiz – fun for adults too!

  Before and after the walk, you can warm up at the cozy festival square, toast marshmallows by the fire, and enjoy a delicious hot drink while chatting with friends.

• How long is the walk?

  The route is about one kilometre long, but how long you spend on it is entirely up to you. Some visitors take their time, lingering at each artwork and soaking in the experience, while others move a bit faster to spend more time by the cozy fire. Either way, it’s all part of the fun!

  Most visitors take between 45 minutes and 1 hour 15 minutes. At each installation, you’ll find information about the artist, and you can join a fun light quiz.

  And of course, you’re very welcome to relax at our lively festival square before or after your walk!

• Is Light Festival Caprera accessible for wheelchairs and visitors with mobility issues?

  Unfortunately, no. The light art trail starts with a steep, unpaved path, followed by steps and uneven surfaces along the route. For this reason, the event is unfortunately not suitable for wheelchair users or visitors with limited mobility.

• How do the time slots work?

  The time slots help ensure everyone has enough space to enjoy the artworks and take photos at a relaxed pace.

  When you buy your ticket, you choose a 15-minute time slot. Your ticket grants entry from the start of that time slot. Once your slot begins, you have 15 minutes to enter, after which you can walk the art trail at your own pace.

  Time slots up to 6:45 PM are specially reserved for visitors with young children. Family tickets are available until the 7:45 PM slot.

  Visiting without children and looking for a quieter experience? Then choose a start time after 8:00 PM! During the 9:30 PM time slot, you can join the Whisper Walk: a quiet evening walk through the woods, where visitors are kindly asked to move through the route in silence.

• How much is a ticket?

    All prices include service fees

  Family tickets (between 6:00 – 7:45 PM)
  Visiting with the whole family? Buy a family ticket and receive 10% off the total price. These tickets are available until the 7:45 PM start time.

  Twilight tickets
  Are your little ones still a bit nervous in the dark, or do they need to go to bed early? Then book one of the extra early time slots during twilight, between 6:00 and 6:45 PM. Please note: some light artworks may not show at their best during twilight.

  Visiting without children?
  We recommend choosing a start time after 8:00 PM for the best, calm experience of the artworks.

• Can I buy a ticket at the box office?

  Yes, but only if there are tickets still available. Some evenings sell out quickly, so we recommend purchasing your tickets in advance through our website.

• Can I change my day or time slot?

  Unfortunately, it’s not possible to change the day or time slot after purchasing your tickets. However, you can easily offer your tickets for resale through the Ticketmaster resale platform and purchase new tickets for your preferred time slot.

• What age is the festival suitable for?

  The Light Festival Caprera is fun for all ages — from toddlers to grandparents! Are your little ones still a bit nervous in the dark, or do they need to go to bed early? Then book one of the extra early time slots during twilight, with start times up to 6:45 PM.

  Good to know:

  • Children aged 4 years and under: free entry

  • Children aged 5–15 years: €11.50

  • Family tickets with group discounts are available until the 7:45 PM start time

  • Strollers and buggies cannot be taken along due to the steep and uneven terrain. A baby carrier, of course, is fine!

• Is there a special program for children?

  No, there isn’t a separate children’s program. However, there is a fun light quiz that takes children on an adventure along the artworks. Roasting marshmallows is also a big hit every year with our youngest visitors!

  Especially for families with young children, there are extra early time slots during twilight (with start times up to 6:45 PM), so you can enjoy the walk together while it’s still a bit light, and the little ones can still get to bed on time.

• I prefer to enjoy the festival in peace! Which time slots are the quietest?

  By using time slots, we try to spread out the crowd as much as possible. Our experience is that time slots after 8:00 / 8:30 PM are generally quieter, as there are fewer children on the route.

  Whisper Walk (starts at 9:30 PM)
  Would you like to experience Light Festival Caprera in its most peaceful form? During the 9:30 PM time slot, we introduce the Whisper Walk: a quiet evening walk through the woods, where light and darkness, sound and silence come together beautifully.

  During this time slot, visitors are kindly asked to move through the route in silence, allowing you to experience every detail more intensely. Perfect for those looking for a calm, tranquil—and perhaps even romantic—experience.

• Can I visit Light Festival Caprera if it rains?

  Absolutely! The festival will proceed even if there’s a spring rain shower. Rain might even add an extra magical touch to the experience.

  We recommend checking the weather forecast in advance and dressing accordingly. Bring a warm raincoat, poncho, and/or boots. Umbrellas are also allowed, as long as they don’t disturb other visitors.

• Can I bring my dog to Light Festival Caprera?

  Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed during the festival. The only exception is for service dogs.

  However, on the days of the Light Festival, the Caprera woods are open during the day, so you’re very welcome to go for a walk with your dog then!

• Can I get food and drinks at Light Festival Caprera?

  All that light art is bound to make you hungry! Luckily, you can relax at the cozy festival square with a delicious (hot) drink or a small snack. And of course, you can roast marshmallows by the fire.

  The festival square is open all evening from 6:00 PM, so come gather with your family or friends before your walk!

• Can I bring my own food and drinks?

  Bringing your own food or drinks to Caprera is not allowed. Please note: bags may be checked upon entry, and any brought items will be taken.

  It is allowed to bring a reusable water bottle or cup, as long as it is empty upon arrival. You can fill it for free at our water stations.

• How can I pay at Light Festival Caprera?

  Payments at Caprera are card only.

• Where can I park?

  Parking along the roads around the theater is free. Please pay attention to the yellow lines, as the police actively check for illegal parking! There is also a large public parking lot at the top of ’t Kopje in Bloemendaal, near Ron Gastrobar.

  There are 2 parking spaces for visitors with limited mobility at the entrance of Caprera. These are public and cannot be reserved.

  It will be busy, so if possible, we recommend coming by bike or on foot. Bicycles can be parked for free at the entrance. There is also a Felyx parking area near the hockey fields, just 100 meters from Caprera.
