Light Festival Caprera 2025

From February 14 to March 2, we will transform the forest of Caprera into a beautifully illuminated world during the Caprera Light Festival. Embark on a magical journey along a two-kilometer walking trail through the forest, encountering stunning light art installations by internationally renowned artists. Gather your friends, bring your children, and experience the magic of the forest at night!

A Special Outing for All Ages

Whether you're looking for a fun activity with your kids during the spring holiday, want to surprise your partner with a romantic evening, or are seeking a unique experience with friends — the Caprera Light Festival offers something for everyone. To keep the experience intimate and relaxed, a small group of visitors starts every 15 minutes.

Families with young children can choose early time slots at dusk. For those without kids, we recommend starting later for the best experience of the light installations. There's also an interactive quiz about the artworks, with a fun surprise at the end for everyone with a child ticket. This way, everyone can enjoy the festival in their own way.

Please note: Early time slots tend to sell out quickly, so plan your visit today and experience the magic of the forest at night!

Top Artists from Home and Abroad

Led by multidisciplinary artist Wouter Brave, talented artists from the Netherlands and beyond create a breathtaking light spectacle in the forest. Brave: “What makes this experience so special is that some installations invite you to become part of the artwork, allowing you as a visitor to help shape the magic.”

The unique setting also makes the Caprera Light Festival stand out. In the darkness of the forest, free from distracting ambient light, the light installations truly come to life.

This year’s participating artists include Leo Bettinelli/Circus Lumineszenz from Austria, Onionlab from Spain, Janez Grošelj from Slovenia, and Dutch artists Gijs van Bon, Judith Hofland/Tessel Schmidt, Parker Hertzberger, Jonas Vorwerk, and of course, Wouter Brave himself.

  • Frequently Asked Questions

    • Caprera Light Festival takes place from Friday, February 14 to Sunday, March 2. The festival is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

When purchasing your ticket, you can select a start time between 6 PM and 10 PM. In this time slot, you’ll have 15 minutes to begin your walk, which you can then enjoy at your own pace.

Before and after the walk, you're welcome to visit our cozy food plaza! All lights will be turned off by 11:30 PM.

    • The route of the light festival is about 2 kilometers long. How long it takes depends on your pace and how much time you take to admire the light art installations. On average, the walk can be completed in 60 minutes.

    • The light festival takes place in the park surrounding the Caprera theater, which involves walking in the dark over unpaved terrain and a steep path. For this reason, unfortunately, the event is not suitable for wheelchair users or those with mobility difficulties.

    • This event is suitable for all ages, so everyone is welcome! Special early time slots are available for families with young children, between 6:00 PM and 6:45 PM.

    • There is no special program, but children are very welcome!

Along the route, both young and old can participate in a quiz. By scanning QR codes, you can learn more about the artwork and answer a quiz question. Correct answers form a sentence. If children provide the correct sentence, they will receive a fun surprise!

Special early time slots are available for families with young children, during twilight, between 6:00 PM and 6:45 PM.

    • Absolutely! If a spring rain shower falls, your visit can still go ahead. The rain might even make the experience more special, adding an "extra" element to the adventure.

    • Dogs are unfortunately not allowed on the walking route of the light festival. The only exception to this rule is guide dogs.
