Moving walls is pure, poëtische lichtkunst. Het basisconcept is om de ruimte in kleinere ruimtes op te delen door ‘muren’ van licht te projecteren. Omdat de muren bewegen is de vorm en grootte van de ruimte continu aan verandering onderhevig, zowel op verticaal als horizontaal niveau. Moving Walls is een geometrisch spel met licht en ruimte. De invloed van het constructivisme is duidelijk aanwezig in dit werk.

De choreografie van de ruimtelijke composities creëert samen met de muziek een organische stroom van bewegende plastieken. Het resultaat is een poëtische dans van bewegende ‘wanden’. De bezoekers kunnen de ruimte betreden en rondlopen in de installatie. De intensiteit van het licht en de illusie van de gematerialiseerde wanden zijn zo sterk dat zij de verandering van de ruimte(s) niet alleen visueel maar ook fysiek ervaren.

Over de maker

Wouter Brave is een in de Achterhoek wonende Amsterdammer en multidisciplinair kunstenaar met een lange staat van dienst. De afgelopen 10 jaar is hij actief als lichtkunstenaar, lichtarchitect en beeldend kunstenaar. In de periode 1981 – 2000 was Brave vooral werkzaam als uitvoerend kunstenaar, danser en choreograaf. 

Moving Walls

Moving Walls is pure, poetic light art. The core concept is to divide a space into smaller sections by projecting walls of light. As these walls shift and change, the size and shape of the space remain in constant motion—both vertically and horizontally. Moving Walls is a geometric play of light and space, clearly influenced by Constructivism.

The choreography of spatial compositions, combined with music, creates an organic flow of moving sculptures. The result is a poetic dance of shifting "walls." Visitors can step inside and explore the installation, where the intensity of the light and the illusion of solid walls are so strong that they experience the transformation of space not just visually, but physically.

About the Artist

Wouter Brave, originally from Amsterdam and now based in the Achterhoek, is a multidisciplinary artist with a long and diverse career. For the past decade, he has worked as a light artist, lighting architect, and visual artist. From 1981 to 2000, he was primarily active as a performing artist, dancer, and choreographer.
